George Negroponte (b.1953) is an American artist whose vibrant and abstract paintings explore art as a vision, not a style. His work studies the visual language between the eye and a painting.

Born in New York, George Negroponte studied art at Yale University. He has had numerous solo exhibitions, and his work has been included in collections worldwide, including The Museum of Modern Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Negroponte has taught painting and drawing at Parsons School of Design, Princeton University, and The Studio School, among other institutions.
