Hunt Slonem (b. 1951) is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker, renowned for his neo-expressionist paintings. His series of bunnies, butterflies, and tropical birds are best known, as well as his historic home restorations and sculptures. His work is full of textural color and expressive brushstrokes, leaving an exotic and vibrant feel. Slonem’s work reflects his life; he collects exotic birds, which live in his lush New York studio.

Born in Kittery, Maine, Hunt Slonem attended Tulane University where he earned a degree in painting and art history. He moved to New York City, becoming involved in the contemporary arts scene and gaining recognition. His work is found in many permanent collections including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
