Robert Zakanitch (b. 1935) is a painter known for his colorful depictions of nature and contributions to the Pattern and Decoration Movement. His early abstract work was inspired by minimalism, with later work incorporating decorative imagery. The base of his work remained simple, with added motifs of flowers, water, birds, and other elements of nature. His 1980s Platter series explored aspects of the home, inspired by childhood memories of the designs on his kitchen tile floor.

Born in New Jersey, Robert Zakanitch attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art before moving to New York City. His works are currently held in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, among others.
